Join us as we wander into the woodland to visit the shallow, seasonal vernal pools, sometimes called temporary spring ponds. These small gems of water, hidden in the woods, play an important role in the ecology of the woodland. They serve as essential breeding habitat for specific species of wildlife, such as spotted salamanders and frogs that travel to the vernal pools to breed and lay their eggs.

Bruce Fellman, naturalist and teacher, will be our expert guide.
