Come discover Old Mystic Ridge, the Stonington Land Trust's most recent land acquisition! Our guides will be Joe Ciriello, an Appalachian Mountain Club Trail Volunteer and Naturalist, Bruce Fellman.
Old Mystic Ridge features unusual and unexpected scenery, including the unique habitat of vertical ledges, rising 60-feet above the trail. The ledges are capped with glacial erratics and provide many rocky outcroppings and crevices for nesting birds and other animals.
Located throughout the preserve are beautiful historic stonewalls, as well as a small abandoned quarry and two footbridges, one crosses over a small seasonal stream. The other crosses over a rock-lined swale, which has the look of an ancient man-made waterway. Lots to observe and learn...Come discover Old Mystic Ridge with us!
This hike is best suited for ages 8 and up.
Refreshments Will be Served.
